Students will work alongside Deloitte's people in audit and assurance, consulting, tax and legal, risk advisory, and financial advisory. The program typically lasts between four to six weeks and is designed to encourage students to consider joining Deloitte after graduation. Top factors drawing new talent to the industry include professional training and opportunities to travel or relocate. Students who perform well during the program may be offered a place on Deloitte's graduate program.
Jackie Henry, Deloitte's Managing Partner for People and Purpose, said that the program allows students to build networks and develop "valuable professional skills." Karolina Jasinka, a Business Tax Analyst at Deloitte, has said that she was able to gain a lot of experience during the program which helped her prepare for the graduate position that was offered to her at the end of the program.
The summer internship program is a popular option for many students and graduates in the UK, with over 10% of them hoping to work in strategic and management consulting in the future. To attract more top talent, Deloitte's competitors EY and PwC have recently increased their recruitment efforts for graduates, introducing MBA programs and lowering entry requirements.
